Great Alaska Adventure 001

DAY 1 - Turnagain Arm / Alaska Wildlife Center / Wilderness Seakayaking
Pickup at Anchorage hotel**. Travel takes us along the scenic Seward Highway and Turnagain Arm on our way to the coastal town of Seward.
There are several wildlife viewing possibilities en route - and we take ample time to stop and observe.
Tour the Alaska Wildlife Center, a non-profitedicated to the care and rehabilitation of Alaska’s orphaned or injured wildlife. See moose, bear,
bison, elk, musk ox and other rescued wildlife.
Lunch in Seward before embarking on a sea kayaking excursion to explore areas of Resurrection Bay. Paddle along and enjoy nature in one of the most beautiful settings on earth.
After checking into our Seward accommodations, there’s time to relax or explore the town before dinner. (L,D)

DAY 2 - Alaska Sealife Center / Kenai Fjords Wildlife and Glacier Cruise
Visit the Alaska Sealife Center, a $56 million project towards study and restoration of Alaska’s marine wildlife. Live exhibits offer an educational
experience for all.
A full day cruise along Seward’s scenic costal line, abundant in marine animal and bird life. You’re sure to see otters, sea lions, eagles and other marine bird life. Watch for whales and calving glaciers. Beautiful coastline scenery of temperate rain forests, sculpted cliffs and protected coves with long pebble beaches.
Dinner before returning to Seward lodging. (B,L,D)

DAY 3 - Portage Glacier / Mat-Su Valley / Hatcher Pass
Early morning travel back along Turnagain Arm, stopping en route for wildlife viewing.
Visit Portage Glacier and observatory. View a short film “Voices from the Ice” to learn more about Alaska’s glaciers.
Explore Hatcher Pass, a high mountain pass favored by visitors and Alaskans alike. Take a short nature walk for sweeping views of wildflower- covered tundra, jagged mountain peaks and lush river valleys. Glimpse into gold-minings past with interpretive trails and historic buildings
at the Independence Gold Mine.
Check into Mat-Su Valley accommodations and refresh before dinner in an Alaskan restaurant. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 - Fishing Charter
An early morning start for Alaska salmon fishing. Experienced fishing guides take you to some of their favorite fishing holes on jetboats to fish for the mighty Chinook’s (King salmon) or the fighting Coho’s (Silver salmon). You don’t have to be interested in fishing to enjoy this spectacular adventure. **Species and fishing subject to the time of year.
In the afternoon, enjoy some free time - choose to relax, souviner shop or take a short nature walk.
Dinner and Mat-Su Valley lodging. (B,L,D)

DAY 5 - Glacier Trek on the Matanuska Glacier / River Rafting
Today is a full day trip that includes a scenic drive along the Matanuska River, through canyons and mountains, to the river’s point of origin, a massive glacier nestled in the mountains of high country. Join in the Ice Fall trek, a 3 hour guided trek that is a great introduction to glaciology,
geology and natural history.
After a quick break for lunch we head out to raft Lion’s Head, which begins near the face of the glacier where the flow is squeezed through
canyon walls creating several miles of great fun. Hold on for the ride through Class III and IV whitewater - excellent for first timer’s trip!
Tonight’s dinner is in an Alaskan family restaurant as we travel back to Mat-Su accommodations for a good night’s sleep. (B,L,D)

DAY 6 - Talkeetna / Flightsee Denali / Sled Dog Kennel
Our destination is north to Talkeetna, a rustic place with incredible views of Denali. Explore this little town with big Alaskan flavor - diners, artists shops, quirky museums and a walk to the river to view Mt. McKinley.
Experience an exciting flightseeing trip over Denali. Fly over lush valleys and enter the Ice Age world of the Alaska Range through the great
gorge; fly deeper into the park over massive glaciers and wind-sculptured ridges for the best views of remote regions of the park and even
land on a glacier.
South from Talkeetna to Willow, the heart of mushing country. Tour a veteran Iditarod musher’s kennel. learn about the 1150 mile sled dog race to Nome, the sport of mushing and the life of a musher. Visit with the sled dogs and the teams newest members, the puppies. Enjoy a short ride in a wheeled cart behind a team of sled dogs
Dinner before returning to overnight Mat-Su Valley lodging. (B,L,D)

DAY 7 - Depart Anchorage
Leisure morning and breakfast in Wasilla.
Lunch in Anchorage and as time allows, last minute souvenir shopping and Anchorage attraction visits depending on individual flight times. (B,L)
